Fabulous Results at the VI. ESI Foal Auction

In a duel between bidders for a foal named Blaue Mauritius, buyers from South Africa had the longest breath with their offer of 25,500 Euros. And with that result, the only Landadel daughter world-wide in an auction ring was the most expensive foal of the VI ESI Foal Auction in Klein Roscharden. Blaue Mauritius will be accompanied on her upcoming trip half-way around the globe by Guilliana, a Guidam-Landadel daughter also purchased by the buyers from South Africa.

The second most expensive foal was knocked-down for 20,000 Euros. Grashopper, a bay colt by Guidam-Heartbreaker, was sold to Russia.

Total sales at the VI ESI Foal Auction reached 385,500 Euros with an average price of 7,273.58 Euros. Of the 56 foals listed in the catalogue, 53 were actually sold. 32 went to customers from abroad which corresponds to an export quota of 60 precent. Bulgaria led the list with ten foals, followed by Italy with eight, Russia four, South Africa two and one each to Austria, USA, Brazil, Luxembourg, France, Sweden, the Netherlands and Great Britain.

Nine of the 53 foals sold cost 10,000 Euros or more. Calligraph (by Cassini I-Landgraf I) was sold to a new customer from Italy who runs an exclusive jumper breeding operation for 19,500 Euros. A Clinton-Grannus son named Climax will remain in Germany. This highly promising young jumper was purchased by the Thomas family for 16,000 Euros. Gestüt Sprehe purchased a Quidam de Revel-Cordalmé son named Quidamus de Almé for 10,000 Euros. The colts Cornet’s Boy and Can do it will be leaving Germany. The first, a Cornet Obolensky-Sandro Boy son, was sold for 13,000 Euros to buyers from Russia; the latter by Chacco-Blue-Lux, was sold to Italy for 14,500 Euros.

"We are quite pleased with the result fo the VI ESI Fahl Auction. We were especially pleased by the strong group of top foals. With an average price of more than 7,200 Euros – in spite of the difficult circumstances in the foal market right now -  we are a bit ahead of this year's Verband auction. And that even though we only offer foals with emphasis on jumping. The Verband auction not only has jumper foals but also dressage foals which are usually easier to sell and for higher prices", explained the ESI organizers, Henrik Klatte and Otto Vaske, unisono when the auction was over.

Hachik Papazyan also achieved his objective in Klein Roscharden. The man from Bulgaria purchased ten foals for his brand new stud farm in Bourgas which is located on the Black Sea, including a Chacco-Blue-Stakkato son named Casino Royale.

The ninth edition of the ESI Sport Horse Auction will be held in December.
